Great seminar, Clyde Takeguchi Shihan's Annual seminar at Capital Aikikai of Syracuse

 It was so much fun and great seminar this weekend. About 50 people attended the seminar, Dojo was  so cloudy. almost no free space. Takeguchi Shihan focused on "Connect yourself, and set". That was something easy to miss in daily training, but very important thing. We trained Kumi-Jo in the second day. Concept was still same, "connect and set". All practitioner smiled through the seminar, such a warmful and relaxed seminar. See you next year!

Dojo closed this coming weekend, Rochester Phoenix Aikido Club

Since we have Annual Seminar of Clyde Takeguchi Shihan next weekend in Syracuse, all Aikido classes on Sunday Dec 4th at Rochester Phoenix Aikido Club are cancelled. Class on Friday is also cancelled.

Aikido class will be back regular schedule on Monday Dec 5th.

Capital Aikikai, Syracuse: Aikijuku Dojo is honored to host Ryoichi Kinoshita Sensei

Aikijuku Dojo is honored to host Ryoichi Kinoshita Sensei from Osaka, Japan.

Kinoshita Sensei has devoted his life to Aikido under the instruction of Abe Seiseki Sensei for nearly 40 years and instructs full-time at dojo in Osaka, Kyoto and Nara as well as at his own dojo.

Kinoshita Sensei will bring his mastery of centering and Aikido connection to Central New York for a special seminar on February 15th and 17-19th.

This is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your Aikido knowledge and ability that you will not want to miss!

New Dojo

Rochester Phoenix Aikido club started training at new Dojo last week. New place has more windows and space.  It is much comfortable in summer and warmer in winter. We trained Jo-dori today.

 Rochester Phoenix Aikido Club gave demonstration at Strong Museum of Play last Saturday. We had 2 demonstration at 11am and 1pm. Students in youth class gave the demonstrations. Lots of people came to watch Aikido. Our students did great job. Thanks!

Exhibit Opening: Five Friends from Japan

Learn about the school and home life of Japanese children and the similarities and differences between kids in the U.S. and other countries. Listen to many kinds of Japanese music in Shoko’s living room, learn about Japanese food in Aisa’s Kitchen and Tofu Shop, dress up in traditional Japanese attire in Sakiko’s bedroom, visit a Japanese classroom, and more.Opening day activities include Japanese taiko drumming with TAIKOnnection and martial arts demonstrations by Rochester Phoenix Aikido and Fitness Club. Included with general museum admission fee

New dojo

Today we moved downstairs into our new dojo. The new dojo gives us more mat space and a new 1/2" underlay to cushion falls. The space is cooler in the Summer and will be warmer in the Winter.

If you have not been around in a while, come and help us break in the new dojo. It's on the second floor, far right corner.
